The Institute of Coaching is dedicated to enhancing the integrity and credibility of the practice and profession of coaching.

Coaching embodies a unique skillset designed to optimize human potential and performance in diverse domains such as leadership, healthcare, and public service. We are supporting professional coaches and others using coaching skills through education, research, and publications.

Come to our coaching conference
Harvard Medical School and McLean Hospital are sponsoring an annual coaching conference. In 2008, five hundred physicians, psychologists, healthcare providers, and coaches attended the inaugural conference. We invite you to attend the second conference on the September 25/26, 2009.

Find out about grants
The practice and profession of coaching need a solid base of research in order to thrive. Thanks to the generosity of the Harnisch Foundation, we offer $100,000 per year in grants to fund coaching research studies. For more information contact Dr. Carol Kauffman.

Join our community
As an emerging field, coaching does not yet benefit from a robust and coordinated academic community. Our goal is to build a global coaching research community and bring together leaders in coaching research to find ways to accelerate progress. Please join us.

To accomplish our mission, the Institute of Coaching has formed five divisions: Education, Research, Healthcare, Leadership, Healthcare, and Applied Positive Psychology.

McLean Hospital, the home of the Institute of Coaching, is dedicated to innovation and through the Institute of Coaching has committed to be at the forefront of research and application of coaching and positive psychology, expanding beyond traditional psychiatric and mental health treatments.
